This Central Park tour starts every Tuesday from our VOLATOUR headquarters in Midtown. From there we will guide you 13 blocks Uptown along the Grand Army Plaza with its majestic Sherman Memorial and its famous Pulitzer Fountain, which you might recognize from the popular series Friends, to the Southeast entrance of Central Park: This is where the magic begins!
Upon entering the park from Fifth Avenue, it seems like you landed on a different planet, offside the bustling city. Our first destination will be the so-called lake ‘The Pond’, one out of seven lakes in Central Park, which winding pathways we are going to take toward the Center Drive walking path. Be prepared for some views, only real New Yorkers can show you. On our way along the Center Drive, we will not only come across the carousel, but also the beautiful Olmsted Flower Bed and the Central Park Mall, where we are definitely going to take a short break to enjoy the scenery! Oh, and if you should be a little bit hungry during our break, be assured, you don’t need to starve. Feel free to buy yourself a snack from the various little snack bars and cafés that you can find all over the area. At the end of our stroll along ‘The Mall’, we are going to visit Bethesda Terrace with its stunning neoclassical Bethesda Fountain where you can take the best photos of the surrounding landscape. Furthermore, you will have time to enjoy a magnificent view on the Belvedere Castle and Bow Bridge, while your tour guide shares valuable insider information about these attractions with you. Our Central Park tour continues on Terrace Drive, where you can take a look at the famous Strawberry Fields, a memorial in memory of John Lennon, who made NYC his second home, and comes to an end three hours later at the Tavern on the Green. This is an iconic little restaurant on the West Side of Central Park around 67th Street. Feel free to enjoy a cool drink inside or take another short stroll through the park during the early evening hours!
